  • King Tides Photo Contests and Events: Residents around the Gulf of Maine are encouraged to participate in the first-ever regional King Tides Photo Contest, taking images of the extreme high tide at midday on October 9, 2014. In conjunction with this event, communities have organized their own unique King Tides events to help educate local residents about sea-level rise impacts. Click here for photo contest rules, prizes, and links to local events. One such local event is the 3rd Annual New Hampshire King Tide Photo Contest and evening photo show.
  • National Disaster Resilience Competition: The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), in collaboration with the Rockefeller Foundation (Rockefeller), is providing significant resources and support to communities to help them become more resilient. The National Disaster Resilience Competition (NDRC) is a two-phase process that will competitively award nearly $1 billion in HUD Disaster Recovery funds to eligible communities. The competition will help communities recover from prior disasters and improve their ability to withstand and recover more quickly from future disasters, hazards, and shocks. Click here for more information.
  • Ocean Planning Meetings:  A number of public events will be held throughout October to discuss progress on regional ocean planning. Events include public meetings in each state and a day-long forum in New Hampshire. The focus of discussion at these events, as well as the NE Regional Planning Body meeting on November 13-14, will be options under the Effective Decision Making goal and the Healthy Ocean and Coastal Ecosystem goal. Please see this page for further details, including a meeting schedule and background documents.  Via John Weber (NE RPB)
